Stuart Spodek ’88

Stuart was born in Brooklyn. After graduating from Stuyvesant, he attended Princeton University and majored in operations research. He is currently the managing director and lead portfolio manager at The BlackRock Obsidian Fund, a global fixed income multi-strategy hedge fund he’s been working at since its 1996 inception. Stuart believes that it’s important to give back and make sure that students growing up in NYC today have the same or better opportunities than he. He has contributed to Stuyvesant so far by hosting Stuyvesant students at his office and would like to continue being involved with and contributing to the experiences of current and future students. He has served on the board of the NYC I Have a Dream Foundation and was the Vice Chairman of the U.S. Treasury Borrowing and Advising committee. His goal is to ensure that Stuyvesant has all the resources it needs to support its students.
