2019 Benefit for Stuyvesant Photos
On Thursday, May 30, 2019, alumni from all class years gathered at the Water Club to honor notable alumni and celebrate Stuyvesant at the first annual Benefit for Stuyvesant.
Thanks to the generosity of our alumni and supporters, we raised over $130,000 for Stuyvesant.
We awarded the “Golden Pegleg” to Richard Axel, MD ’63, Julie Sheinman, Nzingha Prescod ’10, and Samantha Whitmore ’09. All the honorees gave brilliant speeches that eloquently told their stories of how Stuyvesant impacted their lives. All those who attended raved about the speeches, and began eagerly to share their own Stuy experiences.

The Golden Pegleg was created completely at Stuyvesant. Bill Ni ’19 designed the award, and Stuyvesant teacher, Chris Suter, then 3D-printed the individual awards in the Irwin Zahn Innovation Lab.
Look for the stunning table markers in gold–they, too, were completely created at Stuyvesant, thanks to Art teacher Leslie Bernstein and the Art Club with assistance from Mr. Suter and the Irwin Zahn Innovation Lab.
