2019 Benefit for Stuyvesant High

We are pleased to bring together the alumni community for our inaugural Benefit for Stuyvesant, which will take place on Thursday, May 30, 2019 at The Water Club. You will not want to miss out on this event!

First Golden Pegleg Awardee

We will be awarding the first “Golden Pegleg” to Nobel Laureate Richard Axel, MD ’63. Dr. Axel is a university professor and investigator at the Howard Hughes Medical Institute, Columbia University Medical Center. He also serves as a Co-Director of Columbia’s Zuckerman Institute. In 2004, Dr. Axel won a Nobel Prize for his groundbreaking work in decoding olfaction, our sense of smell. Specifically, Dr. Axel identified more than 1,000 special receptors in the nose that transmit olfactory information to the brain.
