Medicine Industry Event

Come join us for our first StuyAlumni in Medicine event!

The keynote speakers are Dr. Gary Butts ’72 and Dr. Mimi Lee ’87.

Dr. Butts is the Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer for the Mount Sinai Health System and Senior Associate Dean for Diversity Programs, Policy and Community Affairs for the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. He is a former Deputy Commissioner for the New York City Department of Health. Dr. Butts received his undergraduate degree from Columbia University, and his medical degree from Cornell University Medical College. He completed his residency in pediatrics at Mount Sinai Hospital.

Dr. Lee is an Associate Medical Director in Medical Affairs at Biomarin, a pharmaceutical company in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the Global Lead for the company’s first gene therapy product for Hemophilia A. Prior to her recent foray into industry, Dr. Lee has practiced as a Board-Certified Anesthesiologist in academic and private practice as well as a consultant and advisor for various startup and venture groups. She earned her undergraduate degree in Chemistry and East Asian Languages and Civilizations from Harvard University and an MD-PhD in Neuroscience from the Albert Einstein College of Medicine of Yeshiva University.  She was a resident in Neurological Surgery at the Washington University School of Medicine and completed her residency in Anesthesiology and Perioperative Care at the University of California, San Francisco. Dr. Lee is impassioned to guide younger women towards achieving their goals and realizing their ambitions while also allowing themselves the space to cultivate healthy personal lives.  She is an advocate of family planning, and egg freezing, as well as a voice for supporting cultural changes in medical training for women who refuse to give up wanting to have it all.

All classes are invited to join this Events Committee activity for networking, light food and drinks.

Tickets are $50.00 per person for non-dues-paying members and $25.00 for dues-paying members.

If you are a dues-paying member of the Stuyvesant Alumni Association, you will be refunded $25.00 after the event. You will be asked if you are a dues-paying member on your order form. You can purchase tickets here.
